Craniocervical & Craniomandibular Pathophysiology Approach to Treatment.

I recently attended a 4-day course on Temporomandibular and Craniocervical treatment conducted by the renowned physical therapist Mariano Rocabado hosted by Synergy Orthodontic Seminars. Alongside dental professionals I met in New York and colleagues from Canada, about 50 of us, including physical therapists, participated in this highly informative seminar.

This seminar delved into the intricate relationship between the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), the cranium, and the cervical spine, utilizing imaging techniques such as MRI to understand the movement and alignment of the TMJ disc, as well as ways to address misalignment and related issues in the face and neck. We concluded the four-day course by learning about the treatment of TMJ disorders through manual therapy techniques, exercises, and dental appliances.

One remarkable aspect of this seminar was the participation of dental professionals who, along with physical therapists, explored the impact of the craniocervical region on the TMJ and its implications for occlusion and airway. This collaborative learning experience underscored the importance of teamwork between dental and physical therapy professionals for the effective treatment of our patients.

The knowledge and techniques gained from this seminar will undoubtedly prove invaluable in our future clinical practice. Rocabado Therapist in New York City!!
