
Dr. Joshua Speckman, DPT, PRC
After completing his physical therapy studies at Columbia University, Joshua Speckman returned to his home state of Minnesota, where he specialized in the Postural Restoration method.
Recently returned to New York, Josh is honored to join the distinguished clinical team at FuncPhysio in Midtown Manhattan.
Josh has followed a lifelong passion for musculoskeletal health, posture, and biomechanics on his journey to becoming Certified by the Postural Restoration Institute.
He has advanced training, skill and special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal injuries; scoliosis; foot, ankle, knee & hip disorders; shoulder impairments related to throwing and racquet sports; as well as neck pain, stiffness and headache.
He believes that movement is life, and strives to restore his patients to joyful walking, running and playing.
Having experienced musculoskeletal problems beginning in his youth, Josh has a lived understanding of pain and physical impairment Having greatly benefited from Postural Restoration himself, he is thrilled to offer these innovative and transformative healing tools to patients at FuncPhysio.
Prior to becoming a physical therapist, Josh spent almost a decade living in China, where he worked as a writer, foreign correspondent and editor. Exploring his interest in the science of movement and sport, he created “String theory,” and authored the article, “The New Physics of Tennis,” for The Atlantic Monthly, which investigated the physics of tennis.
Now residing in the Hudson Highlands north of the city, Josh enjoys long hikes in the forest and mountains, and frequently adventures to wilderness areas to backpack and canoe with his family.
