[Cosmetic Acupuncture Trial Report] Rebalancing the Body Through Acupuncture

What do you do when you want to relax?
When I used to live in Japan, I’d take long baths whenever I felt tired—that was my go-to self-care routine. But now, my home only has a shower, and there’s no nearby sauna I can easily visit. Gradually, being “secretly tired and stiff” became my normal state.

Have you ever tried acupuncture?

I recently tried acupuncture treatment. The last time I had acupuncture was years ago in college, when I was in the basketball club. I had sprained my ankle, and our trainer performed acupuncture to speed up my recovery. (I don’t actually remember if it worked…)

Acupuncture is often associated with “relieving pain and helping recovery,” but it also works by adjusting the flow of qi (energy) in the body. It can help you relax, detox, and rebalance yourself.

This time, I tried acupuncture simply because I wanted to try cosmetic acupuncture—I wanted to feel more beautiful. But what I experienced went beyond just skin-deep benefits; I felt improvements in my overall well-being too. I was so satisfied that I wanted to share my experience in this report, in hopes that more people will give it a try.

② Treatment Flow & Experience

● Consultation

I discussed concerns about my face (frown lines, forehead acne, dull skin) and overall body condition. The practitioner carefully explained that I might feel some pain during needling.

● During the Treatment

Surprisingly, the needle insertion didn’t hurt as much as I expected—just an occasional small prick. I did feel pain once during the session, but I told the practitioner right away, and they adjusted things. After that, I didn’t feel any more discomfort. I was also able to receive facial acupuncture without removing my makeup.

I received cosmetic acupuncture, with a focus on improving skin tone and frown lines.

Not just the face—my legs were also treated to promote whole-body circulation.

The session was deeply relaxing. The flow looked like this:
[Consultation ▶︎ Needle Insertion ▶︎ Eyes Closed & Relax (you can nap!) ▶︎ Needle Removal]

③ Actual Effects & Impressions

● Before & After Changes

I had three sessions over the course of one month. My skin tone visibly brightened. It felt like skincare products were absorbing better, and putting on makeup became more fun.

● Pros and Cons I Personally Noticed (individual experience)

Pros:

  • Very relaxing; my body felt lighter afterward
  • Improved sleep quality—slept more deeply and woke up refreshed
  • Brighter skin tone
  • Drinking more water consciously, which may have helped with detox and improved bowel movements
  • Frown lines became less noticeable

Cons:

  • Each session takes about an hour
  • There can be some pain when the needles go in (don’t hesitate to speak up!)
  • Rarely, minor bruising can occur where the needles were inserted

● Moving Forward

I’d like to continue getting acupuncture regularly. It’s not only effective for improving skin tone and reducing wrinkles, but also for deep relaxation and relieving physical fatigue.

④ Summary

Our bodies accumulate fatigue little by little as we go through our busy days. Acupuncture can help relax and rebalance both our tired bodies and stressed-out skin.

Please give it a try at least once.
