Integrating Japanese Eastern medicine with Western medicine.

We had a great study gathering with Optometrists, Dentists, Myofunctional therapists, Trainers and PTs on September 7th 2023 at FuncPhysio Physical Therapy in Manhattan. The workshop provided the basic science of PRI and discussed how each system influences each other. We had a great discussion with multidisciplinary professionals about how each system is connected and influences each other.

The Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) focuses on a unique approach to postural adaptations, asymmetrical patterns, and the influence of polyarticular chains of muscles. This multidisciplinary study gathering is an opportunity for practitioners and enthusiasts from various fields to come together, learn, and share insights about how each sensory-motor system influences each other.

Our team is studying and understanding how a holistic treatment approach is important to change a patient’s symptoms. The influence of polyarticular chains means that a problem in one area of the body can impact another area. For instance, a pelvic tilt on one side might cause shoulder pain on the opposite side. PRI therapy looks at the body as an interconnected system and designs treatment plans that address the body holistically.

To do so, we need a Multidisciplinary collaboration. We encourage collaboration between professionals from different disciplines. By integrating knowledge from fields like behavioral optometry, dentistry, physical therapy, and movement science, we can provide more comprehensive care to our patients.
