Integrating Japanese Eastern medicine with Western medicine.

Today, I’d like to share a recent case from our clinic involving a patient who experienced constant neck pain, particularly when working in a seated position. Upon examination, it became evident that her shoulders were at different heights, indicating an asymmetric posture. Further assessment revealed that the asymmetry originated from a restriction in her upper thoracic spine.

Our treatment plan targeted the upper ribs(1st to 3rd rib) and upper thoracic spine to address these restrictions. Additionally, we focused on the upper neck muscles and cranial bone (skull), as the patient also suffered from headaches. After the treatment session, we were pleased to see an improvement in her posture, which appeared more symmetrical. The patient reported a significant reduction in discomfort and an overall improvement in how she felt.

To support long-term benefits, we provided education on maintaining proper sitting posture while working. This guidance aims to prevent the recurrence of her symptoms and promote a healthier, more comfortable working experience.

The patient’s comment is following.

“I felt like he was targeting the specific spot where the problem was, unlike with a massage. I felt completely different after the treatment. There was slight pain during the treatment, but it was completely tolerable. Shoulder and neck are very light after the treatment. I would like to continue self-management he taught me, such as breathing technique and postural control.”
